"Draw Houses and Make Houses" is an "event intervention" plan for a demolition area in Changde, Hunan. The demolition area is a shanty district, which will be built into a livable modern city in the future, where all people's lives will change. This creation hoped to preserve the memory of the current shanty area through the vision of the primary school students.

The primary school students are the owners and residents of the new city, and they are experiencing the demolition of the shanty town and the construction of the new town. At present, everything happens here will be an important event and memory in their lives. Expressing the understanding of "home" through the students' perspectives can be very meaningful. Therefore, the plan—"Draw Houses and Make Houses" was created, and conducted in a way that the primary school students drew the houses and the college students made the houses.

The implementation of this plan was very simple. The creation team cooperated with the art teachers at the primary school near the shanty town, who helped to organize the students to draw paintings under the theme of "draw houses". After the students finished drawing, the college students began to "do". First of all, they selected all the special works and connected three pieces of works which were related in style and content, and then they combined all the works together to create "blocks". These paper works were then made into digital engraving files, which were cut by laser and eventually welded into a group of works. These works are inscribed with the name and age of each author. In the future, they will be permanently placed in urban public space. By the time they become adults, they can still find their childhood works in the city. At that time, instead of saying they are looking at the works of their childhood, but they are looking at their memories. This event and memory may be associated with them throughout their lives, then "individual memories" are linked with "city memories".
